How ppfosec will help you
You are curious about information security for a variety of reasons:
- You work in security and you are sick of people using fear-mongering to get their point across or reciting the CISSP textbook like parrots;
- You are pivoting to the field and want to learn the skills to "break in";
- You work with security people semi-frequently and want to understand all these acronyms they keep repeating;
- You enjoyed those mandatory security training videos at work;
- You think the hacker characters in TV shows are cool and want to learn about the real thing (that's how I got interested anyway).
Sounds familiar? You are at the right place. Security professionals all believe in ethics, integrity, and rigour. Our principal quality is a deep interest in knowing how things are made and work.
With my content, you will gain a better understanding of:
- The necessary human skills to succeed in information security
- The psychological impacts of a career in information security
- The complex tradeoffs involved in security risk management
- The incentives that motivate people to do things right.
Plus:
- You will become your team’s go-to resource for all things infosec.
- You will impress your nerd friends.

Pierre-Paul Ferland: InfoSec Specialist. Dad x4
All ppfosec content is created by me: Pierre-Paul Ferland (call me "PP", pronounced "Pay-Pay"). I am based in Quebec City, Canada. I am an information security specialist working in Governance, Risk, and Compliance. I support my employers' growth and maturity into a leader in AI and cloud applications by upholding the highest standards of integrity, cybersecurity, and privacy. Speaking of "supporting growth": I am dad x4. I also teach IT security at the college level.
In my previous life, I obtained a Ph.D. in literature with aspirations of becoming a revered writer. This site is my attempt to live out that dream. Well, at least the "writer" part.
I operate the site part-time. I dedicate my best working hours to my employer.
